Merry Christmas!

A few pict from Christmas day. We had a quiet day of opening presents and hanging out, and recovering from our Lord of the Rings Marathon the day before. We were also dog sitting so Monty joined the festivities.

We saw The Grinch on Broadway, and it was a lot of fun. Kids in the audience really enjoyed it and it was cute to watch. They did a good job of making it a magical chistmas musical. And as a bonus, on the way out I ran into Page Davis from TLC's Trading Spaces and she complimented my hair, we talked for a moment and she was very nice and really pretty. Her husband played the Grinch in the play, only I didn't have my wits about me to tell her what a good job he did, oh well. But, it was a fun night, and afterward we went to see the tree @ Rockafeller Center. By the way, it was sooo cold, I was freezn my knickers off.

Teach me

So, I am no longer just an assistant, I am an assistant that can also do things, yah! What I mean by that is that I am currently color training at Soon. It's not a lot of money changes or anything, but it just feels nice to do some hair again. I'm hoping training will just fly by as I keep rockn' out the hair, and before long I'll be an assistant no more. Then, comes the money.... then the fame. I do still cut on the side, to keep a hand in and whatnot. Also the idea being that once I snag them, even if it's for little or no money, they won't be satisfied with a regular joe-shmoe and will have no choice but to come to me as a stylist. And don't worry, it works, just heard an old client of mine, let's call him "Jonnie" is now going to Salon Vivid... you keep 'em comin' Sandra.

Yeah, Thanksgiving! Yeah, Thankgiving food!

The food was awesome, the company great, the pets adorable, what could be better! Of course Malinda and I took care of the making of the wonderful grub and the boys got to watch football. We were all stuffed turkeys ourselves by the end of the meal, especially Malinda, (girl's got a belly on her) and then we lounged about and played some Mario Party, oh, guess who won...

Rain, rain, go away

Yes, it was very cold and wet on Thanksgiving, we left in the wee hours of the morning to get ourselves a good spot on the parade route. But, it was indeed worth it. We didn't stay for the whole thing, but just long enought to see the impressive balloons and some celebs... let me just say Julie Andrews anyone? Had fun with the husband and Lucas and Malinda. We even were privy to see a little drama in the cranky parade goers; just picture soccer parents arguing at a game, something like that. Anyways, glad to experience it all!

Who that sexy guy, and who does his hair?

She's got legs

I love tights. I also love leggns and trouser socks. They can really add that special touch to an outfit. Also with the cold winds approaching, tights are my favorite thing to wear. So comfortable with a cute skirt and very slimming indeed. Yes, I looove tights!!

Rosco and Monty

Ah, young love.

Rosco loves Halloween!!

So much, that Rosco and Monty decided to dress up for a costume party held in the dog park.

Many dogs came dressed up, there were angels with wings, an 80s glam rocker, a horse race dog, a pumkin, and many others including this court jester.

Rosco's dragon/donkey (from Shrek) was a big hit!

Updates

So here are some updates on my life:

JOB: It's good. I'm still at Soon Beauty Lab, and am feeling more at home every day. The people there are a lot of fun and good at what they do. It's also nice to work with so many artistically creative people. Currently I am working on a project for our Fall Trends contest at work.... I'll let you know if I win.

HUSBAND: Cute as ever, and will be 26 on Oct. 10th!! He is on this week off in between terms at New York Film Academy, which he is doing very well at. His latest project is still in the works, reaks of genious.

ROSCO: She is very happy living next to her very own park (she thinks she owns the place). And she loves her new boyfriend Monty (Lucas and Malinda's Corgi).

JASMINE: She likes looking out on the street from the fire escape, and loves that she is the only kitty in the place.

FUN: Well I'm a giant TV geek, so with all the new shows my DVR is ready to collapse. We are going to two concerts this month, The KIllers, and Jenny Lewis. Also, just yesterday we got standbye tickets to Conan O'Brien, and crazy of crazies our friend Malinda got picked for them to do a MY SPACE skit on. "It's was Freakn' Awesome" If you missed it, you missed not only a glimse of Eric and I next to them, but a belly laughing good time.

So, all's well in the Big Apple , more to come....

Creepy...(shudder)

Ok, I am sorry, but why do child pageant contenders look a lot like scary drag queens. To all you crazy pageant mother's : what the bleeep are you thinking?! There are so many things wrong with taking a 5 year old and putting make-up, fake tan, fake hair pieces, revealing clothing, and the worst yet - fake teeth on them, I just don't even... well I think the picture speaks for itself.

Which, leads me to the greatest movie I seen this year: Little Miss Sunshine. Freakn' loved it. Every character was played out flawlessly. Incredibly funny, highly recommended. See this movie! You won't be disappointed. Donnie I'm talking to you. (pretty much my only reader)

We're still alive!!

Eric and I are indeed still living and breathing in New York City. It has been crazy thus far, and we still don't have a long term place to live. Currently spending our home time with our roomies Lucas and Malinda, in our 1 bedroom apartment. On the upside we are down in the finacial district where life is a bustling; downside being that we have to be out by the end of the month. Eric is going to New York Film Academy, which keeps him very busy, but he is loving it. I was working at a salon called Miwa Alex, as an assistant, but I really hated it there, so now I'm at a great new place called Soon Beauty Lab. I am an assistant there as well, but it's a much, much better salon for me. So things are going pretty good, now all we have to do is find a place to live. Also, for those of you who may be concerned, Rosco and Jasmine are adjusting quite nicely, and you will have to check in with my salon's website soon to see her picture (www.soonbeautylab.com). Most of our stuff is still in storage, so no pictures to update but check back soon....

You won't like me when I'm angry...

Eric and I are trying to pack up our house tonight and leave tomorrow afternoon for New York. Seems we have a lot of stuff. It's getting to that point where we are pretty tired and cranky. About the time we try to see who can piss off the other person more... I bet I can. This is Eric's crazy face. Luckily, we are also at that point where everything is laughable as well... kind of. Rosco is also tired of packing.

Fun in the sun.... and below freezing water

Some of us crazy kids went to Applegate river last week. We were going it hardcore, before a week of nintey-degree weather that probably heated the water up above the freezing temp. Donnie was talking all kinds of trash about how he would be swimming in the river, he loved the cold. Upon touching our toes in we decided the more sane thing to do was try the lake. OK, I do not remember so much geese poop last time I was up there, it was everywhere! The boys threw around the football, girls got some good rays, and then eventually we all made it into the water, which by the way, was still freezing and yet bearable after about fifteen minutes, you know after the crying quitely to your self, and the urinating just to feel some warmth. All in all it was a fab time. Oh, I can't forget the running with the geese.... damn, Adam you are a fast, fast engine.

Lohan succeeds!!!

Last night, amazingly, I saw two pretty entertaining movies. Eric and I really needed a break from packing and wanted to go to the theater to see anything, didn't really matter what. We decided to go see the Lohan flick Just my Luck. I was not expecting much, considering the last movie I saw her in, Confessions of a Teenage Drama, sucked so bad I turned it off part way through. Then she came out with Herbie, which I haven't actually seen, but can you blame me? Surprisingly I really liked Just My Luck. It was what it advertised, a fun, cute, simple, romantic comedy. And, every now and then I enjoy myself some silly physical comedy. I am glad we gave this movie a chance.
The other movie I saw last night was Rumor Has It. I wasn't sure about this one, even part way through the movie I was a little confused and wondered where this movie was going, but by the end I really enjoyed it. Even though it did use the story of the Graduate as it's backdrop, it wasn't a rip off of any kind. It just used that as a stepping stone to a whole new twist, on what happened with the rest of the characters after that movie. I loved Shirley MacLaine in this movie, she is a tough broad who is fun to watch. The movie wouldn't go on any of my favorite movies lists, but definitely worth viewing. It just seems it is not that often I can see two romantic comedies that don't completely suck, but actually work.

Duder, play this song!

I've seen some of the amazing clips that Donnie has posted revealing Scott's musical talents and most recently his CD cover, well Scott, Average Homeboy you one day may become. Reach for the stars man, reach for the stars.

I got my certificate?

This is a bit of old news for those handfew of people who actually read my blog, but oh well. I got my cosmetology license! Except that it is not called a license in the great state of Oregon, but only a certificate. A certificate? That does not sound nearly as cool. Sort of reminds me of receiving a participation award, or one of those comments the teacher always sent home with my report cards saying things like, "Amber is a pleasure to have in class". But, even though I only have a certificate, I am proud of myself because I worked pretty hard to get it and plan on bringing home the bacon with it. Yay me! Later Rosco and I celebrated by throwing around the old pigskin.

Too Flashy for You?

Last night Amanda, Donnie, Eric and I went out to dinner at Bella Union, one of my favorite restaurants. We were having a good time talking, eating, in their outdoor patio. I realized I had my camera with me, and as Eric and I are moving soon I thought I should document our fun evening with our friends. First, I try taking some pictures without the flash on, as to not draw a lot of attention our way. But, I don't have a steady enough hand, so I thought, no big deal we will just take a couple pictures with the flash on. And look at that cute picture of Donnie and Amanda, so worth it. What you won't see is a picture of Eric and I, because as our picture was being taken, my dear husband was mouthing off to the camera about how rude it is to take pictures in a restaurant, so our picture did not turn out as lovely as our comrades. I wanted to take one more picture, this time a good one, my husband was saying it was rude to take the flash filled pictures.
Eric and I had a good rousing argument about this through the car ride home, which Donnie and Amanda enjoyed immensely. Eric said it wasn't just that we were taking pictures, but that my camera took about eight flashes before actually taking the picture. Something I realized to be true, as I pulled out my camera in the car to prove him wrong. As you can see it was a little bright. Yet, I still say who cares if someone takes a couple of pictures in a restaurant, I sure don't.

Donathan

I was telling someone recently I can't wait until I can start working in a salon. I'm used to doing hair most every day, and I haven't done any for about three weeks. Then, I realized I have been doing hair, quite a bit, since I got back from NY. About four haircuts and two colors just last week. I have about four haircuts and a possible color lined up for this week, guess I just can't stay away. These pictures are of just one of those cuts last week. Let's just say there's a new model in town, and I call him Donathan. I think the pictures say it all... Amanda, you are one lucky lady.

ROSCO

I can't believe I haven't talked about her before! My dog Rosco Strahl is the cutest, smartest, best dog God ever made! You may think I'm exaggerating, but if you have ever met her you'd know I speak the truth. The Jeter Family knows what I'm talking about. Amanda and the Jeter Family helped to keep the little pup safe when she may have escaped the fenced yard. OK, so she's not perfect, but as close as it gets. Oh, and can you say one-of-a-kind? She is half German Shepard (the brains) and half Daschund (the puppy-dog eyes of guilt). I dare you to find a better dog. Hey, Hey now, really don't waste your time, it won't happen. Just look at the pictures, and fall in love.

Hooters

So Eric and I had our first Hooters experience. Now, here are my only preconceived notions about this restuarant. Well there's the fact that they are called Hooters, ie boobs, what I assume would be big ones. Then theres Adam Sandler, or to be more specific the movie Big Daddy where one of his favorite resturants was Hooters. In the movie the women indeed have large chests and short shorts. The resturant, in the flesh, was a little underwhelming. In one respect, it was like going to Applebees only the women were sporting terribly outdated, kind of slutty, and pretty unflatering uniforms. Plus, it is called Hooters, right? Not so impressed with the hooters, I guess they can't legally only hire big busty women, but you'd think, you know? And yet it did have a weird strip club sort of feel. I can't be entirely sure as I have never actually been to a strip club. Just that there were all sorts of fellas from an "office" you might say, ogaling all of the ladies in their orange hot pants. And our waitress was friendly. Uh, so much so that it was a little uncomfortable, dare I say awkward. She greeted our table, while giving a nice little spread eagle of sorts to the table of guys behind her. And I'm still not sure who she was flirting with more Eric, Lucas, Malinda or me. It was interesting and pretty boring at the same time. Food, much like Applebees was mediocre. I think we may choose more sophisticated and intellectually stimulating entertainment in the future... next stop pussycat dolls!
